This year we have been reading a text called - 'Wonder', by R.J.Palacio. Our class has learned what it is like to: start a new school, be different, experience bullying, learn about qualities of friendship and most importantly - the benefits of kindness. So, after investigating a website that was kindly shared by Ms Berry - we decided to have our own day of kindness.
The students made Thank you cards for staff, offered their services to help each class and played their part at IPS so generously. Our first call out involved reading to the pre-school children. A-W-E-S-O-M-E and caring 5/6 students loved being involved and we plan to do this again next term. Helpers were also needed in Year 1 maths groups, sharpening pencils, assisting with Thou-Walla, helping Ms Giuffre and kindergarten assistance. Busy, busy, busy, but fun, fun and more fun. My favourite quote was shared by Ms T in her kind comments on our blog and one of our exceptional students on the way out the door this afternoon - 'I think every day should be kindness day!'
Have a look at some of the photos and I'm sure you will agree.
