In Stage 3, students are expected to read a wide variety of texts in different media and technologies. They love their 10 minutes of silent reading in the classroom. As you can see, the tyre reading seats and magazines are the favourite items in the classroom. Students are expected to practise a range of strategies and skills when reading. The Super 6 Comprehension strategies that we have investigated this term are: Predicting, Questioning, Monitoring, Visualising, Summarising and Making Connections. You may like to practise some of these with your children at home. 5/6J were learning about 24 hour time. We made our own clocks, played some memory games and learned that the tricky times were the PM times. Don't tell Mrs Farley that we were having fun in maths at school!
