How incredibly lucky are we to have six iPads in our classroom. Already, we have used them for a number of ways to extend our learning every day. While some students are using iPads, others are working together using atlases to research. A great way for students to learn that knowledge can be sourced from a variety of places. This term we are learning all about our amazing country and the development of our government system in preparation for our Canberra excursion. I love the way 5/6J are collaborating and using essential communication skills to help each other learn even more than I expected. Very proud of the teamwork skills our students are developing. There are a couple of photos of students researching our states and territories, neighbouring countries and surrounding oceans.
During the weekly learning for our HSIE topic of the Real Game, the class have been learning about the types of businesses and services in their 'created' town called "Funsticksatopia." This week they will be making five new companies. Before they begin, they had to sit trial interviews for a position on each of these companies. Step 1 involved potential applicants who were applying for the role of office co-ordinators. These candidates sat for interviews with managing directors Mrs John and Miss Smash. Students had to answer organised responses, but for an evil twist, also had to think on their feet for impromptu questions thrown at them by the harsh interviewees. Step 2 involved Office co-ordinators taking charge of their companies and interviewing applicants for graphic artists, musical co-ordinators, writers and financial experts. Students participated with an extremely confident approach to the task. Announcements are being made tomorrow morning, so stay tuned for results. Here is a sneak peak of some of the inteviews in progress.
